ANNUAL HEALTH CHECKS
Annual health checks allow many conditions to be detected early, and give you the opportunity to discuss any concerns or worries you may have about your pet’s health with a trained veterinarian. As our pets have shorter lifespans, this is equivalent to you going to see your doctor and dentist every 5 to 7 years! Senior pets and animals with known health issues commonly need to see a vet much more often. Our highly experienced vets will provide you with recommendations for revisits and checkups as part of an individualised treatment or health management plan for your pet.
VACCINATIONS
In addition to being safe and very effective, vaccinations are a fundamental part of your pet’s preventative healthcare plan. Diseases that once were relatively common and fatal to pets are now easily preventable due to advances in veterinary immunology. Veterinary science is constantly improving on existent vaccines as well as enabling the prevention of an even wider array of contagious diseases. Our veterinarians believe that our carefully balanced approach is the most effective way to prevent infectious disease and the possibility of your pet having a negative reaction to a vaccine.
MICROCHIPPING
A collar and tag can be lost, but a microchip is with your pet for life. An important part of responsible pet ownership is the identification of your pet. A microchip implant enables life time identification. They are approximately 1cm long (about the size of a grain of rice) and are inserted through a simple injection. It is a legal requirement that all puppies are microchipped before going to a new owner. If this is not already done, by Queensland State Government regulations it becomes your responsibility to have this done as soon as possible after acquiring your new pet.

WORM, FLEA, AND TICK PROTECTION
Protection against parasites is a very important part of your pet’s preventative health care. Fleas, ticks, heartworm and intestinal worms are not just pests – they can cause life-threatening conditions in your pet and severe, potentially fatal, health issues for you and your family. There are many treatments available for parasite control, some of which are more effective than others. At our clinic, we sell only the safest and most effective products. The product you decide to use is often a personal preference, however we can provide recommendations and guidelines to help you make the best decision for you and your pet.
GENERAL & ADVANCED SURGICAL PROCEDURES
Surgical procedures both simple and advanced can be completed at Belmont Rd in a fully equipped surgical theatre. We understand that the decision to allow your beloved pet to undergo surgery is never an easy one, so we strive to make procedures as comfortable and stress-free as possible.

IN-HOUSE PHARMACY, LAB AND DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT
Belmont Rd Veterinary Surgery is fully equipped with multiple updated diagnostic and laboratory machines. Our in-house pharmacy makes it easy to dispense prescribed medication after appropriate consultation with a trained veterinarian. We have several IDEXX laboratory machines that are used for haematology (blood tests) and urinalysis (urine tests), as well as other lab equipment for cytology (looking for cells), skin scrapes and ear swabs. Did you know we can have your pet's blood test results back to you in as little as 15mins?
Belmont Rd Vet Surgery also has on-site diagnostic equipment including digital x-rays, meaning faster results for you and your pet!
MODERN DENTAL EQUIPMENT
Here at Belmont Rd Vet Surgery we value your pets dental health! We offer FREE dental health checks with our trained staff and offer dental estimates before you say yes to the treatment so there are no nasty surprises.
Could you imagine not brushing your teeth for a few days? Let alone 5 years! This is what it is like for some of the pets we see. It is for that exact reason we have modern and digital dental machines and equipment to ensure we are always providing gold standard dental care. We have an ultrasonic scaler and polisher and digital dental x-rays.
GROOMING & SATURDAY HYDROBATHS
We offer a full grooming service from simple baths, brush-outs, coat stripping and tidy-ups to fully styled breed clips provided by our team of professional pet stylists. Your pet will look and feel great after their visit, and we ensure their skin and coat remain healthy. We can also provide hydrobaths and towel dry-off for a quick and easy way to keep their coat healthy and clean.
We also offer $10 Saturday hydrobaths with no appointment required!
HOUSECALL SERVICES
This is a special service designed to support people and their animals who are unable to drive to our clinic in person for whatever reason. We are able to provide full consultations, vaccinations, preventatives and some medical treatment (Cartrophen injections (arthritis) etc).
Saying goodbye to your pet in the comfort of your own home is much more preferable for some clients, so this may be an appropriate choice when organising these sensitive appointments.
